Hello everyone, my name is Kevin Zhang. I and a couple of other people are the ones who have been setting up the meetings and answering the MACPS email (macpsociety@gmail.com). For those of you who were there, I hope you enjoyed the first meeting at Michael Szesze's Carnivorous Plant Nursery! I look forward to meeting the rest of you through our future meetings.
I live in Center City Philadelphia and am a rising second-year in Penn's MD/PhD program. I've been growing carnivorous plants since 2003, but due to school and college, have only really begun to expand my collection since two years ago. While I enjoy growing all carnivorous plants, I tend to gravitate towards collecting species. I've got a sizeable collection of Sarracenia (all species + some hybrids), both highland and lowland Nepenthes species, about 20 or so Pinguicula species, quite a few Cephalotus plants, and some sundews and bladderworts. I also recently acquired two Drosophyllum and a Darlingtonia that I am hoping won't die this summer. Unfortunately, I live in a small apartment in Philadelphia, which means much of my living space is taken up by my plants! I also enjoy regular vegetable gardening, tropical fishkeeping, and have a pet Russian tortoise.
I hope to meet all of you sometime soon!

That's awesome--sounds like you have quite the collection. Also, one of my good friends works as a research specialist in a bio lab at UPenn. I helped get her hooked on succulents years ago, maybe I can get her into CPs.

Hi Kevin, it was nice to meet you today at the meeting at Millersville, PA. I've been interested in Tropical Fish since I was in 8th grade. Worked in a LFS all through High School. I still have that interest and it has expanded into Aquatic Gardening. This is the club I belong to: www.njagc.net/wp/

Hi Jerry,
It was great to meet you as well! It's amazing how so many people have overlapping interests - particularly in this group, with fish and CPs.

I agree, During the "intros" section of the 3rd meeting, one of the members (I'm sorry, I forgot your name already) showed pics of some of her fish. I recognized the bumble bee cat, anchor cat, and paradise fish, all three being favorites of mine. I have not had an aquarium in a number of years though. And it would be wonderful to set one up again. I really do enjoy the overlap of so many hobbies all mashed together.
