Nice water lilies. I will need to repot my dwarf lily next spring. Or should I do it now before dropping it to the bottom of the tub which is buried in the ground. Even Parrots Feather survives that treatment.
I don't leave mine out, so can't really say. I don't have a pond, and the tubs will freeze solid, so...they get emptied and turned upside down. this year I'm going to leave some of the iris and pickeral outside, in pots underneath one of the big tubs to seen how they do next spring. The lilies I divided and bagged in some dry peat moss and will go in a styro in the basement.
Basement stays around 40. They're all hardy plants. I've thought about burying them, but honestly, I move the tubs around each year trying to find ideal conditions (mostly more sun). Can't really do that if they're buried. After the trip to Kenilworth, though, I'm thinking of digging out the area, putting in concrete walls and building a bog. I don't really care much about the fish, they're mostly just for mosquito control, and could have some areas for carnivorous plants as well as the lilies.
Sorry to be resurrecting a relatively old thread, but those are beautiful lilies. I just put plants into that aquarium you saw when you were over for the steering committee meeting - I put in a tiger lily and it has done fantastically! I just realized that people have had problems with it invading the entire tank, though, so I might have to pull it up and pot it up in a small pot .
