Sarracenia psittacina, the parrot pitcher is also called the lobster-pot pitcher and is famous for it's unique shape and it's habit of feeding on aquatic inverts and even tadpoles while it's habitats are flooded in the winter.
Pitchers that were burned in a spring fire, with the new summer pitcher growing back. Again, fire is critical in keeping down competition for these amazing plants.
An interesting yellow form.
This more typical plant was growing right next to the yellow one. Sadly, almost all of the plants at this site, also many S. leucophylla and S. rosea have been lost because the non-native hogs have routed most of them out of the ground.
